However, the South African bowlers, led by Gerald Coetzee with a four-wicket haul, managed to restrict Afghanistan to a total of 244 runs in their allotted 50 overs.

Chasing the target, South Africa displayed a balanced batting effort, reaching 247/5 in 47.3 overs.
