Afghanistan’s innings saw a commendable performance from Azmatullah Omarzai, who fell just short of a century with a brilliant 97 off 107 deliveries. However, the South African bowlers, led by Gerald Coetzee with a four-wicket haul, managed to restrict Afghanistan to a total of 244 runs in their allotted 50 overs.

Chasing the target, South Africa displayed a balanced batting effort, reaching 247/5 in 47.3 overs. Rassie van der Dussen played a crucial role with a composed 76 runs off 95 balls, guiding his team to a five-wicket victory. In the end, South Africa’s well-rounded performance with both bat and ball secured a crucial win in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, maintaining their momentum in the tournament.
