Ravichandran Ashwin Picks Players To Watch Out For Ahead Of IPL 2024 Auction

Veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has picked his players to watch out for ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. The auction will be held in Dubai on December 19. The IPL season will be played in March-May next year.

Australia recently won the ICC World Cup 2023 by beating India in the final. Ravichandran Ashwin was a part of the Indian team that reached the final but lost out to the Aussies. Incidentally, Ashwin played just one match in the tournament which was India’s campaign opener against Australia.

Ashwin picked Kiwi opener Rachin Ravindra and South African pacer Gerald Coetzee as his two players to watch out for. In his recent video, he explained what makes them crucial buys in the IPL. He also said how much they can go for in the IPL auction.

He started with Rachin Ravindra saying that teams needing a quality all-rounder and a left-arm spinner who can bowl a few overs will go for the Kiwi Southpaw. Rachin ended the World Cup 2023 with 578 runs in 10 matches at an average of 64.22 with three hundreds and two fifties.

“The IPL teams are scouting and hence I thought I will do a player watch. We’hv had the World Cup in India. The first player in that list is Rachin Ravindra. 578 runs at an average of 64 bowling a bit of left-arm spin, orthodox and can open the batting. Whichever team needs a left-arm spinner to bowl a couple of overs and needs a really good batter at the top of the order will go for Rachin” said Ashwin.

He picked Gerald Coetzee, the South African pacer as the second player to watch out for and explained the reason behind doing so.

“Gerald Coetzee that’s how he is supposed to be called. He is a tearaway fast bowler from South Africa. South Africans and New Zealanders are sought-after commodities in the IPL auction and Coetzee I think might be a sought-after commodity, might go for a decent amount of money” Ashwin said on the SA pacer.

The Protean pacer took 20 wickets at an average of 19.80 in the World Cup. Ashwin hailed him as one of the upcoming superstars in South African cricket.
