The upcoming IPL auction will be a mini-auction and it is scheduled to be held on December 19 in Dubai. The BCCI has set November 26 as the deadline for the franchises to announce the list of retained and released players.
One franchise that is expected to make huge changes to its squad is the Delhi Capitals (DC). Team Delhi Capitals had finished at the 9th spot on the 10-team points table in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.
In the absence of Rishabh Pant, who was recovering from his injuries following the life-threatening accident, Australian opener David Warner was given charge of the team and he failed to impress as a leader. Out of 14 matches, Delhi Capitals (DC) won just 5 and the investment in the youngsters didn’t prove to be fruitful, which was one of the biggest reasons behind the failure of the team in the season.
Delhi Capitals To Release Kamlesh Nagarkoti
According to the latest reports in TOI, the Delhi Capitals (DC) have made the decision to release two youngsters and one veteran ahead of the mini-auction. The youngsters are Sarfaraz Khan and Kamlesh Nagarkoti while the senior is Manish Pandey. A source has said that the Delhi Capitals (DC) will have a lot of fresh faces in the IPL 2024.
“There will be a lot of fresh faces next season. There are no players available in the transfer window. DC management will look to buy fresh domestic talent at the auction,” the source said, as quoted by TOI.
Talking about Kamlesh Nagarkoti, he is a supremely talented player but his career has been marred by injuries. He wasn’t able to play a single match in IPL 2023 and got ruled out of the competition with a lower back stress fracture. He was then replaced by former captain of Indian Under-19, Priyam Garg, in the Delhi Capitals side.
Overall, Kamlesh Nagarkoti has played just 12 matches in the IPL, picking up 5 wickets at an average of 57.00, an economy of 9.50, and a strike rate of 36.00.
