Jasprit Bumrah Bamboozles Bas de Leede With Pinpoint Yorker

The 29-year-old India National Cricket Team right-arm pacer Jasprit Bumrah bamboozled the 23-year-old Netherlands National Cricket Team all-rounder Bas de Leede in the 45th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Sunday, November 12, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

The Netherlands had high expectations from the young all-rounder Bas de Leede to bail the side out of trouble. However, he wasn’t able to survive for very long in the middle.

De Leede was cleaned up by the premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah in the 32nd over and he was back in the hut after scoring 12 runs off 21 deliveries, including one boundary.

On the last ball of the 32nd over, Bumrah bowled a pinpoint yorker to stun the Dutch all-rounder. The ball went on to hit the base of the sticks and Bas de Leede was only able to see his stumps getting destroyed.

Earlier, India won the toss and opted to bat. The opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill quickly started the fireworks against the Dutch on the auspicious occasion of Diwali.

They played an attacking brand of cricket and helped the team reach 50 runs in 6 overs and 91 runs in 10 overs. This was the highest first powerplay total conceded by the Netherlands in the ongoing edition of the World Cup. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill smashed excellent half-centuries but weren’t able to convert them into big scores, getting dismissed for 61 and 51 runs respectively.

Also, the batting maestro Virat Kohli hit a good half-century, before Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul smashed outstanding centuries to power India to a gigantic total of 410/4.

Chasing the target, the Netherlands batters showed a great fight. All the batters chipped in with small yet crucial runs to avoid a humiliating defeat. At the time of writing, the Netherlands were at 226/8 after 44 overs.
