Veteran commentator Ian Smith was at his best during the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 game between India and Netherlands. He imitated Ravi Shastri’s commentary and left many in splits with his action at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
Ian Smith copied Ravi Shastri’s commentary during the 30th over of the match between India and Netherlands. He echoed Shastri’s voice, saying “Welcome to Bengaluru, Happy Diwali to you all and now we shall have a toss of the coin. The almighty Richie Richardson is in the middle.”
Ravi Shastri, who was sitting by his side along with Anjum Chopra couldn’t control his laughter. Here’s the video:

Coming to the match between India and Netherlands, the Men in Blue displayed a magnificent batting performance as they piled up a massive total of over 410 runs on the board. Opting to bat first, Rohit Sharma (61) and Shubman Gill (51) gave a blistering start to the team as they added 100 runs for the opening partnership.
After that, Virat Kohli (51) chipped in as well with a vital half-century. But the real blitz came from the bat of Shreyas Iyer (128*) and KL Rahul (102). The duo slammed magnificent centuries and entertained the crowd. Based on collective efforts they ended with a gigantic total of 410 runs.
India have won 8 out of the 8 games in the tournament and would be looking to bag the 9th win as well. They look like favourites to win as their bowlers have done a tremendous job in the tournament and it wouldn’t be a big surprise if they win by a big margin.
IND vs NED: Ravi Shastri suggests ODI should be converted to a 40-over game
Ravi Shastri recently shared his verdict on the future of the ODIs. Since the last few months, there have been lots of talks about the format. Many feel that it should vanish as no one has time.
Ravi Shastri said that the format should be reduced to 40 overs because people don’t have this much time these days. He explained:
“I think changes have to be made. When we won the World Cup in 83 it was a 60-over game it changed to 50 overs. You have to evolve with time, you have to see the attention span of the spectator. It is diminishing. I think the way forward would be a 40-over game.”
The ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 has seen a good amount of crowds.
