South Africa National Cricket Team vice-captain Aiden Markram was absolutely pumped up after taking the huge wicket of Australia National Cricket Team veteran opening batsman David Warner in the ongoing World Cup semi-final clash.
The high-voltage match between the world-class teams is currently underway at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday, November 16. The winner of the ongoing match will book a date with the India National Cricket Team in the final of the marquee tournament.
Chasing a 213-run target against the Proteas, David Warner provided his side with a terrific start. He scored quick runs and smashed the South African bowlers all over the park. The opener contributed 29 runs off 18 balls, with 1 four and 4 sixes, before being dismissed by Aiden Markram. He was also involved in an outstanding 60-run partnership with Travis Head.
Temba Bavuma brought Aiden Markram into the attack in the 7th over and on the first ball itself, he provided his team with a crucial breakthrough. He bowled a regulation off-spinner delivery from round the wicket and the ball went past Warner’s outside edge and rattled the stumps. Aiden Markram was quite pumped up after picking the wicket and he shouted in aggression.
Watch – Aiden Markram Castles David Warner
Earlier, South Africa won the toss and chose to bat first in the match. The decision proved to be a horrible one for the side as both the Proteas openers – Temba Bavuma and Quinton de Kock – were cleaned up for low scores. Also, Rassie van der Dussen and Aiden Markram failed to deliver on the big stage of the semi-final and were back in the hut without performing well.
It looked like the Proteas would get bundled out for a low score, but David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen brought South Africa back into the game. Miller was the top performer for South Africa as he stitched together an outstanding 95 runs in 113 balls with Heinrich Klaasen to lead his side to recovery. The duo batted magnificently well and pushed the Aussies on the back foot for a while.
Although Heinrich Klaasen failed to score big, David Miller smashed an outstanding 101 runs off 116 balls, with 8 fours and 5 sixes, to help his team post a respectable total on the board. For Australia, skipper Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc picked three wickets each while Josh Hazlewood and Travis Head bagged two wickets each.
